Before you call anyone
Questions worth asking every shop.
Roughly seven times in ten, yes. If the door is heavy to lift by hand, look at the torsion spring above the opening: a break shows as a clean two-inch gap in the coil. Other common causes are a snapped cable, a stripped opener gear, or the photo eyes knocked out of alignment. Send us a photo of the spring and the header and we will tell you which it is before we dispatch anything.
Both, always, and any shop that offers to do one is not doing you a favour. Springs on the same door have done the same number of cycles, so the second one typically fails within months. Replacing the pair while the door is already down costs far less than a second call-out.
Stock steel doors are usually installed within three to five business days of order. Custom sizes, wood-clad and full-view glass doors are built to order and run four to seven weeks from the factory. Installation itself is a half day for a single and most of a day for a double with a new opener.
It depends entirely on the garage. If it is attached, has a room above, or you work in there, then yes — a polyurethane door at R-18 is a genuinely different space in February, and it is far quieter. If it is a detached garage you park in and leave, the insulation mostly buys you rigidity and a quieter door rather than an energy saving.
Usually. Bring us a photo of the house and we will identify the panel profile and the closest current colour — manufacturers change palettes every few years, so an exact match on a fifteen-year-old door is not always possible. If it cannot be matched we will say so rather than fitting something almost right.
