🐾 What we do

Six kinds of care, under one roof.

Everything below happens here, with our own team and our own equipment β€” which is why most results come back before you have driven home.

Wellness & Preventive Care

Annual and semi-annual examinations, vaccines tailored to how your animal actually lives, parasite prevention and early bloodwork that catches things years before symptoms do.

$78 exam Β· plans from $34/month

Soft Tissue Surgery

Spays, neuters, mass removals, foreign body retrieval and cystotomies, with dedicated anaesthesia monitoring by a nurse whose only job that hour is your animal's vitals.

$390 – $2,400

Dentistry & Oral Surgery

Full-mouth dental radiographs on every patient, scaling and polishing under anaesthetic, and extractions with nerve blocks. Dental disease is the most under-treated thing we see.

$620 – $1,850

In-House Diagnostics

Bloodwork, cytology, digital radiography and ultrasound, all read on site. Most results are back before you leave, which matters enormously when an animal is genuinely unwell.

$95 – $480

Urgent Care & Same-Day Sick

We hold appointments open every single day for animals who become unwell overnight. You should not have to wait until Thursday because your dog stopped eating on Monday.

$120 urgent exam

Senior & Chronic Care

Arthritis, kidney disease, diabetes and thyroid management, plus quality-of-life consultations and, when the time comes, home euthanasia. We will never rush that conversation.

$110 senior consult
Wellness plans

Routine care, spread over the year.

Month to month, cancel any time, and worth roughly a third more than they cost if you use them. Not insurance β€” this covers the predictable care, and insurance covers the unpredictable.

Our team

Four vets, nine nurses, and a great deal of cheese.

I opened Willowbrook in 2004 in a converted dairy office with one consulting room. The thing I care most about, twenty-two years later, is that an animal who is frightened is also an animal who is badly examined β€” you cannot palpate an abdomen that is rigid with fear.

So every one of us is Fear Free certified, we medicate before the visit when that is kinder, we see cats away from dogs, and we examine an enormous number of animals on the floor. It takes longer and it is a better standard of medicine.

Why Willowbrook

Six things worth asking any practice.

Fear Free certified, all of us

Non-slip mats, species-separate waiting, pheromone diffusers, treats through everything, and pre-visit medication for animals who genuinely need it. A terrified animal is also a badly examined one.

A dedicated anaesthesia nurse

Every anaesthetic has a nurse whose only responsibility for that hour is monitoring your animal β€” not also fetching instruments. It costs us money and it is the single biggest safety difference between practices.

Dental X-rays on every dental

Roughly 60% of dental disease is invisible above the gumline. A dental clean without radiographs is a polish, and it leaves the painful teeth exactly where they were.

Written estimates before we start

A low and a high figure for every procedure, given before anything is booked, and a phone call before we exceed the high. Nobody should discover the cost of a surgery at the discharge desk.

Same-day slots, held daily

We keep appointments open every day for animals who become unwell. Waiting three days to be seen turns a $120 consultation into a $900 hospitalisation more often than anyone admits.

You come into the room

Owners are welcome for examinations, most procedures and every euthanasia. Curbside is convenient for us and frightening for them, and we went back to letting people in as soon as we could.

Free triage

Is this a β€œwait until Monday”?

Owners are usually right that something is wrong and usually unsure how fast it matters. This tool errs firmly on the side of caution β€” it will tell you to come in more often than a vet would, and we are entirely comfortable with that.

Do not use this if

Your animal is struggling to breathe, has collapsed or is seizing, is a male cat straining in the tray, is retching without producing anything with a swollen abdomen, or has eaten something toxic. Call (555) 337-9024 and come straight in.

What to do now
Withhold food for a few hours but never water. Come in today if there is blood, if they cannot keep water down, if they are lethargic, or if they are very young, very old or diabetic.
Commonly this turns out to be
Dietary indiscretion, parasites, pancreatitis, a foreign body, or kidney disease.
Typical cost
$120 – $780 with bloods and fluids

This is triage guidance, not a diagnosis β€” no tool can examine an animal. If you are worried, that is reason enough to call us.

Our cat blocked at eleven at night. They talked me through it on the phone, met us at the door, and had a catheter in within twenty minutes. He is seven now and completely fine.

The dental X-rays found three resorptive lesions nobody had spotted in years of check-ups. Our cat started eating properly for the first time since we adopted her. She is a different animal.

Our terrier is genuinely terrified of clinics. They gave us medication to use at home before the visit, saw him in a separate room, and got the whole examination done on the floor with cheese.

They gave us an estimate before the surgery, called when they found something extra, and the final bill matched what we had agreed. That should be normal and somehow it is not.

When it was time for our old girl they came to the house, sat on the rug with us, and did not rush a single minute of it. I will never take an animal anywhere else.

The senior plan caught kidney disease from routine bloodwork about eighteen months before we would have noticed anything. Diet change and monitoring β€” she is still going strong at fifteen.

Good questions

What owners ask us most.

We hold same-day appointments open every day specifically for animals that become unwell, so in most cases the answer is today. Genuine emergencies β€” breathing difficulty, a male cat straining in the litter tray, seizures, bloating with unproductive retching, or suspected toxin ingestion β€” should not wait for an appointment at all. Call us on the way in and we will be ready when you arrive.

A wellness examination is $78 and an urgent sick visit is $120. Vaccines, bloodwork and medications are separate and we will quote them before doing them. Wellness plans from $34 a month cover the routine care and give you a discount on everything else, and they are month-to-month rather than a twelve-month contract.

Because they are not the same procedure and the comparison does real harm. A veterinary dental involves general anaesthesia with a nurse monitoring throughout, full-mouth radiographs, scaling below the gumline where the disease actually is, polishing, and extractions with local nerve blocks where teeth are diseased. Anaesthesia-free scaling cleans the visible crown, which is the part that does not hurt, and leaves everything under the gum untouched.

Age is not a disease β€” organ function is what matters, and that is exactly what pre-anaesthetic bloodwork tells us. We run it on every patient, tailor the protocol to the results, place an intravenous catheter, and have a dedicated nurse monitoring blood pressure, ECG, oxygenation and temperature throughout. For most senior animals the risk of leaving a painful mouth or a growing mass untreated is considerably higher than the risk of the anaesthetic.

Yes. We accept CareCredit and Scratchpay, both of which give an instant decision, and for larger treatment plans we can usually split the cost across stages. We will always give you a written low-to-high estimate first, and we will tell you honestly when a cheaper approach is clinically reasonable.

Yes, and we would prefer it. Owners come into the consulting room for examinations, are welcome for most minor procedures, and are always welcome for euthanasia. We also do home euthanasia. The only routine exception is sterile surgery, where the room has to stay sterile.
