Google Ads Management for Small Businesses

Google Ads management that buys calls, not clicks: tight campaigns, real call tracking, and landing pages built to convert.

Your budget is paid to Google directly and never touches our account. The first review of your account is free and the findings are yours either way.

No contract. No exit fee. Your domain and Google accounts stay in your name.

Case study · dental practice, Texas

$20k → $64k in a single month

Attributed revenue from one month of Google Ads, running alongside the search work on the same account. Same practice, same budget owner, better structure and tracking.

One account, in one industry, with margins that suited it. It is evidence of a method, not a promise about your market.

02 The challenge

Problems we solve

Nearly every account we take over is losing money in the same three places, and all three are fixable in the first fortnight.

The budget buys the wrong searches

Broad keywords with no negative list sell you clicks from people looking for jobs, DIY guides and free advice. The first job is subtraction, not a bigger budget.

Nobody is recording the calls

For a local business most conversions are phone calls, and that is exactly what a default setup fails to record. The account then optimises toward nothing.

The ad points at a homepage

Somebody searches for one job and lands on a page listing eight. They have to go hunting, most will not bother, and you paid for the click either way.

03 How we work

How a campaign gets built

Numbers first, then structure, then tracking, then the landing pages. The account goes live against real data rather than assumptions.

  1. Agree the numbers

What one customer is worth and what you can afford per lead. Every later decision is measured against those two, and without them nobody can tell a good week from a bad one.

  2. Build structure and negatives

Campaigns split the way you sell, ad groups tight enough that the ad echoes the search, and a negative list built before launch rather than after the first thousand dollars.

  3. Track every lead

Calls, forms and bookings recorded through Tag Manager, with call tracking so a phone lead is attributed to the keyword that produced it. Most inherited accounts are missing this.

  4. Point ads at real pages

A landing page per service, matching the search, loading fast on a phone and asking for the call above the fold. Built by us, so nobody gets to blame the website.

  5. Tune weekly, report monthly

Search terms read and negatives added, budget moved toward what converts. The report ends in leads and cost per lead, not impressions.

04 What you get

What you get for the management fee

Starting at $799 a month, after a one-time $999 setup, for accounts spending up to $3,000 with Google, plus 10% of spend above that. Here is what the fee buys.

Spend paid to Google directly

Your budget never passes through our account, so every dollar is visible in your own billing. The fee is separate and stated plainly.

Landing pages built with the campaign

Every page is built with the campaign and tracked by the same person running the account.

Conversion tracking that works

Calls, forms and bookings recorded properly through Google Tag Manager, with values where values exist.

A certified specialist

Four years of hands-on account management across sixteen industries, including dental, contractors, legal and pest control.

Weekly search term reviews

The wasted searches get cut every week, which is why month three costs less per lead than month one.

An honest stop signal

If your click prices cannot carry your margins, we say so. An account that should not run is a worse quarter for you than for us.

05 Evidence

$20k to $64k in a single month

One dental practice in Texas, one month of Google Ads running alongside the search work on the same account. It is here because we can show you where the number came from, not because it is a promise about yours.

What travels between accounts is the method: know what a customer is worth, record every lead, cut the searches that never convert, and send the click somewhere that asks for the call.

What clients say about the ads work

Google reviews of Visible Owl, all five stars. Both of these accounts run ads and search together, which is the usual shape.

Rated 5 out of 5

We started seeing great and visible results after 2 months from working with Visible Owl team. Finally, we landed in the right spot and glad to have these guys manage and run our Google Ads, SEO, and overall digital marketing for our business. We have seen a clear 20%++ increase in revenue generated from Google ads and exponential increase in website traffic. The important part is that they are available 24/7 to answer questions and adjust/tweak our ads based on competitors performance and surrounding market metrics. These guys are exceptional, honest, and well-knowledgeable about what they do. Give them a try, you won’t regret it.

When Google Ads is the wrong answer

Ads work when demand exists and somebody is typing for it today. When the margin cannot carry the click price, or the site the clicks land on is broken, fixing that first is the cheaper answer.

Some trades in the Austin metro have click prices that only make sense above a certain job value. And if paid search will bring you leads sooner than organic can, we say that too, even when the larger retainer is the other one. Most of our accounts end up running both, with ads carrying today while local SEO compounds underneath.

We run accounts across the country and work from Round Rock, so if you are nearby, the local context is on the Round Rock digital marketing page.

Give us read access and you get a written review: where the spend goes, what is being recorded as a conversion and what is not, and the three changes that would move the number most.

Never run ads before? The same conversation works in reverse. We check what people search for in your trade and area, what those clicks cost, and whether the arithmetic works before anybody sets a budget.

09 Common questions

Google Ads questions small business owners actually ask

How much does Google Ads management cost?

A one-time $999 setup, which covers building or rebuilding the account, then starting at $799 a month for accounts spending up to $3,000 a month with Google. Above that, add 10% of the spend over $3,000. Your ad budget is paid to Google directly and isn’t part of our fee.

Everything is month to month with no minimum term.

How much should a small business spend on Google Ads?

Enough to buy a meaningful number of clicks in your market, which depends entirely on what a click costs in your trade and your area. In an expensive local trade that can be a few thousand a month before the data means anything; in a quieter niche it is far less.

The right way to work it out is backwards: what a customer is worth, how many of your inquiries turn into customers, and what you can afford to pay for a lead. The free planner on our homepage does exactly that arithmetic without asking for your email, and it is the same sketch we would do with you on the first call.

Is the ad spend included in your management fee?

No, and it never passes through our account. Your ad budget is paid to Google directly from your own billing, so you can see every dollar of it in your own account. The management fee is separate and stated plainly on the quote.

Any agency that quotes you one blended number for spend and management is making it impossible for you to check either figure, or to take the account with you if you leave.

How quickly will I see leads from Google Ads?

Clicks start the day the campaign goes live, and leads usually follow within the first week or two. What the first month is really buying you is data: which searches convert, which ones waste money, and what a lead actually costs in your market.

Accounts get cheaper per lead as they mature, because by month three the wasted searches have been cut and the bidding is being fed real conversion data. That is the normal shape, and any account that looks perfect in week one usually just has tracking that is not recording properly.

Do you handle the landing pages, or do I need someone else?

We build them, and the same person running the account tracks them.

That also removes the most common argument in paid search, where the agency blames the website and the web company blames the ads. When both are ours, the answer is just the data.

What is the difference between Google Ads and SEO?

Ads buy you a position at the top of the results today and stop the moment the budget stops. SEO earns a position over months and keeps working after you stop paying, but it cannot be switched on this afternoon.

For most local businesses the sensible answer is both, in that order: ads carry the phone while the site, the Google Business Profile and the content build underneath. Our budget planner splits a monthly figure across the two depending on how urgently you need calls.

Should I use Performance Max?

Sometimes, and not usually as the first campaign in a small local account. Performance Max hands most of the targeting decisions to Google's automation, which works when the account is already feeding it clean conversion data and has enough volume to learn from.

Started too early, on an account with broken tracking, it spends efficiently on the wrong things and is hard to see inside. We normally build a search campaign with proper tracking first, and consider Performance Max once there is real conversion history to give it.

Can you take over an existing Google Ads account?

Yes, and that is most of what we do. The account stays yours, we are added as a manager, and your history, conversion data and quality signals stay intact, which is worth keeping rather than starting fresh in a new account.

The first fortnight is usually a cleanup: fixing tracking, building the negative list, tightening structure and pointing ads at pages that convert. You will see the search terms report we read, so you can check the conclusions yourself.

Why are my ads showing for searches that have nothing to do with my business?

Almost always broad match keywords with no negative list, sometimes combined with location targeting set to interest rather than presence, which lets people who are merely interested in Austin trigger your ads from anywhere.

The fix is reading the actual search terms report and building negatives from it, week after week, rather than once at setup. Search behaviour changes, Google's matching gets looser over time, and a negative list that is never revisited stops protecting the budget.

Do you require a long-term contract?

No. Everything is month to month with no minimum term and no exit fee. The Google Ads account, the conversion tracking and the landing pages are yours and stay in your own accounts.

Clients stay because the reports show leads arriving at a cost that works, which is a better reason than a signature on a twelve month agreement.

We were paying for Google Ads, had someone doing SEO before, and our website looked decent, but the leads were inconsistent and nobody could really explain why. Visible Owl went through everything instead of treating each thing separately. Website, tracking, Google Ads, local SEO, Google Business Profile, landing pages, all of it.”
